About Cool Comfort Pros — and how we are paid
A short page, because the important part is short. We publish research on heating and cooling, we connect homeowners with independent companies that do the work, and we are paid for the introduction rather than for the size of the job.
What We Are
A referral service that repairs nothing
Cool Comfort Pros is a referral and connection service for U.S. homeowners. We are not a heating and cooling contractor, not an installer, not a manufacturer and not a distributor. Nobody here holds a wrench, and that is deliberate: a company that installs systems has a commercial reason to describe your fault as a system problem, and we wanted to write without that reason.
What we do is read the primary material — federal efficiency guidance, EPA rules on refrigerant handling, manufacturer service literature and equipment rating directories — and turn it into pages that answer the question a homeowner actually typed, including when the honest answer is that they need to spend nothing.
The Bit Everyone Skips
How the money works
When we connect you with an independent local company, that company pays a referral fee. It is the same fee whether the visit ends in a replaced capacitor or a replaced system, and it does not change what you pay. There is no arrangement under which a larger job earns us more, and there is no company paying us for preferential placement in our research.
That structure is why this site is able to say, in writing, that a refrigerant top-up is a leak being deferred, that an oversized system is a defect rather than a bonus, and that a single warm room is usually ductwork rather than equipment. Each of those sentences costs a contractor money to say out loud.

What we will not do
Diagnose your system
We can tell you what a symptom usually means and which half of the system it points at. We cannot tell you what is wrong with your equipment, because that requires measurements taken at your house.
Publish invented averages
Repair prices vary too much by region, equipment and diagnosis for a national average to be useful. We say which faults are cheap, mid-range or system-level, and we leave the number to the company that measured.
Promise anything for a contractor
We do not advertise free inspections, arrival times or workmanship on behalf of independent companies. What they offer is theirs to state and yours to confirm before work starts.

The independent match — we are paid for the introduction, not for the size of your job
Most roofing advice is written by the company that wants to do the work. That is not a failing of the people who read it; it is a defect in who is talking. The estimate, the diagnosis and the invoice come from one party, and no amount of care on your side fixes that.
We are built the other way round. We do not repair roofs and we do not sell materials, so the payment reaches us when you are connected to a licensed, insured roofing company — the same amount whether your roof needs an eight-hundred-dollar repair or a twenty-thousand-dollar replacement. Nobody here has a reason to talk you into the larger number. How we make money and how we research are both written down.
Waiting is the one thing that actually costs money. An insurance clock runs from the date of the damage rather than the date you noticed it, and damage that sits through a season stops reading as sudden and starts reading as wear — which is the exclusion that pays nothing. And if your roof is simply worn out, say so on the call. No claim will pay for age, we will tell you that plainly, and you will have lost nothing but the call.
